The office buildings for Van Doorne (Zuiderhof I) and ING (Zuiderhof II) were designed as a pair of buildings on a wedge-shaped site next to the ING head office on the Zuiderhof in Amsterdam.  The client was Blauwhoed Vastgoed B.V. Both buildings take their identities from different schedules of requirements and their specific location on the site, but they form a unified whole in terms of building structure and use of materials. The backbone formed by the high-rise building, with the enamelled glass façade cladding continuing on from the office premises, brings cohesion, as does the rising roof line at the front of the buildings.  This is further reinforced by using one colour for the different types of ceramic façade cladding.  Importantly, the main building has no extra annexes; all technical systems are integrated within it.
